W78E052DDG – 8K Flash – 8052 Core Microcontroller – 40P DIP – Nuvoton

85.00 Excluding tax

The W78E052D microcontroller from Nuvoton (www.nuvoton.com) is a low-cost, feature-rich chip especially useful to electronics hobbyists and makers. One advantage of the Nuvoton W78E052D microcontroller is that it comes with a UART boot-loader and, hence, can be directly programmed from the serial port.

W78E052D is, in fact, an 8-bit microcontroller that can accommodate a wider frequency range with low power consumption and contains an 8K-byte Flash EPROM programmable by hardware writer; a 256-byte RAM; four 8-bit bi-directional (P0, P1, P2, P3) and bit-addressable I/O ports; an additional 4-bit I/O port P4; three 16-bit timer/counters; a hardware watchdog timer; and a serial port.

These peripherals are supported by eight-source four-level interrupt capability. To facilitate programming and verification, the Flash EPROM inside the chip allows the program memory to be programmed and read electronically. Once the code is confirmed, the user can protect the code for security. The W78E052D microcontroller has two software-selectable power-reduction modes (idle mode and power-down mode).

The idle mode turns off the processor clock but allows for continued peripheral operation. The power-down mode stops the crystal oscillator for minimum power consumption, while the external clock can be stopped at any time and in any state without affecting the processor.
